Adele Go

For those of you who are "supermodel of the world-fanatics", then you would love to see the following clip. It's the opening of the Supermodel of the World 1989 where our very own Adele Go got into the "top 7" (if I remember it correctly). Clap clap clap!!!

The Bund

The Pearl TV tower (the tall structure on the right)

Last night, my friend and I were bored after having dinner so we decided to take the subway and head off to "The Bund". It's probably the most famous tourist attraction here in Shanghai. It has twenty-four major structures, of uneven heights along approximately 1.5 kilometers of Zhongshan Road and the Huangpu River. All were constructed in western-inspired styles --classical, gothic, renaissance, ecclectic and modern--a reported seventeen styles of architecture (taray noh?!). The Bund has been called a 'museum of international architecture,' and indeed it was and still is. Located also here are banks, hotels, exclusive clubs, press organizations and headquarters of international concerns. This is where you can find also the famous bars and restaurants such as M on the Bund, New Heights, Laris, Jean Jorges and Bar Rouge. There were so much people last night and they were actually local chinese. You can also take a cruise by the river for an hour and enjoy the sights both in the Bund area and in Pudong where the distinctive Pearl TV can be seen. The lights are spectacular but sad to say, they turn everything off at 10pm.

Wynn Win Experience

Last saturday night, I went out with a few friends from my volleyball group here in Shanghai. We went to Wynn Win Club and Restaurant. It's located on the 5th floor of Plaza 66, 1266 Nanjing Lu. The place is quite big and has a mezzanine. Nice interiors and very spacious. A beer would cost around 55rmb (that's about x7 in Manila). There was nothing spectacular about the crowd but the music was awesome. It's probably one of the places with the best sound system that I have gone to. The music is loud but you could hear every single beat and instrument clearly. It's like you're in a rave party in Manila, but the difference is, it's just an ordinary saturday here for the shanghainese. The place was cool but I just wasn't feeling the crowd that night. So, I said goodbye to my friends and headed off to where I feel at home.

Amazing Parking Space

A friend of mine sent me these pics. It's a parking garage in Munich, Germany.

"The actual space that the facility occupies is approximately only 20% of a comparable facility with the traditional design that is used primarily in the US. Not only is the German structure less expensive to build, but vehicles are also "retrieved" in less time and without the potential of being damaged by an attendant."

Linda for Vauxhall Corsa

Here's an old ad with my fave supermodel Linda Evangelista. Pretty interesting.

Old Must-See Movies

I'd just like to share to you a few old movies that I really liked. I'll start off with the horror/suspense ones. If you like those movies that would leave you wondering about the plot even after watching them, then I recommend that you watch "Shutter." It's a movie shot in Thailand. Grabe yung story. It's not very ordinary. What I like about it is the twist. Mas malalim yung story compared to The Ring and those other asian horrors. Another is "The Maid" in which our very own Alessandra Da Rossi stars in. It was shot in Singapore. Like Shutter, ibang klase rin yung twist. I'd recommend also Saw and Saw II. They would really keep you wondering and guessing as you watch them. I first thought that it's another ka-cheapan horror/suspense movie pero when I saw part I, I really liked it. Saw II is actually much better. But I still can't stop thinking about Shutter up to now.

If you like movies dealing with relationships na hindi pa-tweetums, then you probably have already seen "Closer." Kung hindi pa, bumili ka na ngayon ng dvd copy. I just love that scene when Clive Owen was confronting Julia Roberts. I could just play it over and over again. Another movie na medyo pa-teewtums ng slight is "Little Black Book." It stars Brittany Murphy and Ron Livingston who played in a few episodes in Sex and the City. It's about this girl dealing with his boyfriend's ex-girlfriends. Pretty cute but there were actually some dialogues that really led me to tears. Plus, if you love Carly Simon, you'll definitely love this movie.

Annoying Habits

Aside from that regular habit of spitting on the streets, there is another habit here that is pretty much annoying. That is the chinese' way of crossing the streets. If you get annoyed by the people in Manila who can't seem to understand what the green and red stoplights mean, you wont definitely believe what the people here are like. And what's funny here is that some intersections do not have "left-turn" stoplights. So, if it's a green light, bahala na si batman kung pano ka magle-left-turn. Tarush di ba? I guess there's too much people here in China that they can't fit another slot for a left-turn light.

Another is answering celfones. I actually get excited when a celfone would ring when I'm in the middle of a meeting (the chinese don't actually turn their celfones to "silent"). I would just love to see how they would answer their celfones without them having to excuse themselves. I get amazed! What ever happened to courtesy? Or "Please excuse me" at least? Kahit sa pag-chat. Nothing would stop them from looking at their message/s. One time, a client was presenting to me some stuff on his laptop then suddenly he gets a message thru MSN. Guess what he did.....he "minimized" his presentation, opens up his MSN, and replied to the message. Ibang klase talaga di ba? Parang wala ako ron. Clap clap clap!!!

Impressive huh?!

Since a lot of you have been requesting for my pic, sige na nga ito na.

Mamatay kayo sa inggit!

Have to really work on my diet to maintain my supermodel figure. Going to the gym is not enough you know.

I still have yet to enroll in a gym here by the way. The last time I worked out was last May pa...back in Manila. Actually, parang 2 years na kong nag-g-gym kaso di ako talaga lumalaki. Must be with the genes. Or I'm just not lifting weights enough. I play volleyball here in Shanghai every saturday so that sort of keeps me fit in a way...I believe.

Ok here's the unphotoshopped pic:

I knew u didn't believe what you saw earlier. The face is real though. Anyway, his name is Marios Lekkas. He's Greek, 29 years old, 6'2 with blue eyes. He's been on the covers of Homme Arena and DNA magazines. He's done work with Dolce & Gabbana, Dquared, Versace and has been the face of a Bvlgari perfume campaign.

Here's another shot of Marios. Gorgeous! Although I think his ears are kinda big.

Naomi and Enrique

I came upon this news saying that Enrique Palacios (male model) and supermodel Naomi Campbell tied the knot in 2002. I know this is old news but I was shocked! I fell in love with Enrique Palacios a few years ago. He is so gorgeous. He used to have ad campaigns for Armani, Tommy Hilfiger, Dolce & Gabbana, Ferre, Hugo Boss, to name a few. He's currently not very visible in the fashion scene although he was in Dolce & Gabbana's 2007 spring/summer collection show. I just can't believe he fell for Naomi. Sniff!

"His busy schedule cost him the relationship with his former fiancee. But his encounter with Naomi Campbell in the Dolce & Gabbana villa located on the Stromboli Islands during the summer 2001 has led to further romance. Despite of the age difference that Enrique is five years younger, the couple finally tied the knot in the summer 2002."

ZARA Reopening

Two weeks ago, another Zara has opened (reopened) here in Shanghai. It's pretty big and they started off with their fall/winter collection. What's funny about the Zara shops here is that parang sa Pilipinas.....yes, puro bakla. I remember back in the Philippines, my friend said that if you want to cruise for guys, pumunta ka sa Zara. True enough, palagi ngang may bakla everytime I would visit Rockwell. There would always be at least 1 customer there who's gay. I dunno exactly what's with gay men and Zara. Yes their clothes are nice, their prices are right, but what is it that attracts gay men there? Is it because Zara fits them perfectly? Not really. There's actually nothing spectacular about their clothes so I wonder why they (ok, we) keep coming back...for more. Applause for Zara in fairness.

Sa totoo lang halos pareho ang presyo ng Zara here and sa Manila, fyi.

A New Start

I've been in Shanghai for almost 3 months now. I'm currently living with 2 gorgeous friends (mag-jowa) of mine. We are staying in a 3-bedroom apartment pero actually parang 2 lang kasi yung isang bedroom naging tambakan ng shoes, old tv's, bags, etc. I have a decent bedroom and bathroom but aside from those, the 3 of us basically share everything . My stay with them is temporary since I plan to move out by October. I can't wait to experience living on my own. I know it's tough but I'll get used to it...I have to get used to it.

I couldn't decide where to live here. I wanted to live in the French Concession Area since it seems quiet and it has those trees by the streets. Parang very Forbes Park ang drama (ng slight). It seems very distant from the hustle and bustle of the business area but actually they're just close to each other. Another option is just to live nearby my office. It's really very convenient since I don't have a car here and walking isn't that bad. I may be working overtime in some days so living close to my office wouldn't be stressful. Atsaka kung winter na, masarap yung feeling na rumampa with my fall/winter collection. I've actually bought jackets last weekend. They're from a japanese store, all made in japan of course. I love their jackets kasi very close to the body. Very tailored and they fit me nicely. They're a bit expensive but I believe they're good investments. I'll buy more from that store when the cold season gets near. Last week was just a preview. At least now I know where to go. I never had those back in Manila kasi naman, ang effort mag-jacket don din ba unless nasa Baguio ka or mag-oufit kung may events? I've realized that all my clothes back in Manila were just for summer and very casual. I've always imagined myself wearing trenchcoats and scarves but it never happened in Manila. Pero now that I'm in Shanghai, having 4 seasons here, good luck na lang. I actually have been looking at
www.gqstyle.com lately and www.firstview.com I use them for reference for buying outfits. I actually save the pictures that I like and put them in a folder. Right now, I have a "fall/winter collection" folder. It's basically filled with Bottega Venettas, Calvin Kleins, Dolce & Gabbanas, Gianfranco Ferres and Dsquareds. Maraming maganda in other designers but it's not like I could really wear them noh. Oh and I save also all the gorgeous men even if they're not wearing much. They're in a different folder :)
